This album reached number 1 on the Billboard 200! The band built a great reputation as a live act, and after the success of Cowboys from Hell (1990) and Vulgar Display of Power (1991), and the momentum they had built, more fans were ready to jump on the Pantera train, and it showed on the music charts!
Don't quote me on the following, but some internet sources say that this is the top ten for when Far Beyond Driven hit #1 on the Billboard 200 for the week of April 9, 1994:
1. Pantera – Far Beyond Driven — 2. Bonnie Raitt – Longing in Their Hearts — 3. Ace of Base – The Sign — 4. Soundtrack – Above the Rim — 5. Yanni – Live at the Acropolis — 6. Soundgarden – Superunknown — 7. Celine Dion – The Colour of My Love — 8. Counting Crows – August and Everything After — 9. Toni Braxton – Toni Braxton — 10. R. Kelly – 12 Play.
