Damn Yankees is the self-titled debut album by the American hard rock heavy metal supergroup Damn Yankees formed in 1989. Wikipedia shows that the album was certified double platinum in the US. The album sounds like a greatest hits collection, it's filled with ranging from rockers, anthems and ballads and everything in between. The band made music videos for "High Enough", "Come Again", and "Coming of Age". The album, you could say, is American good-time, party rock and roll songs, accompanied by a great abundance of musical skill, experience, knowledge and talent for focused songwriting.
This type of American hard rock heavy metal is what American rock bands have always been the best at when they want to: rocking music that sounds like fun! Damn Yankees makes it look so easy.
The band consisted of bassist and vocalist Jack Blades from Night Ranger, guitarist and vocalist Tommy Shaw from Styx, and guitarist and vocalist Ted Nugent. They were joined by drummer Michael Cartellone, who later joined Lynyrd Skynyrd. Damned Yankees were active in the early 1990s, with a few short reunions in the following years. The band released two studio albums during their main run. Their self-titled debut, Damn Yankees, was released on March 13, 1990. Their second album, Don't Tread, followed on August 11, 1992. The group was known for mixing the melodic rock style of Styx and Night Ranger with the aggressive guitar playing of Ted Nugent. The debut album features ten tracks: "Coming of Age," "Bad Reputation," "Runaway," "High Enough," "Damn Yankees," "Come Again," "Mystified," "Rock City," "Tell Me How You Want It," and "Piledriver."
