In Memory of ARTILLERY Drummer Josua Madsen (1978-2023)
Josua Lander Madsen (March 1, 1978 - March 8, 2023)
According to Metal Archives, Josua Madsen was a Danish drummer best known for his long-standing tenure in the thrash metal band Artillery. Born on March 1, 1978, Madsen joined Artillery in 2012, serving as a key member of the rhythm section for over a decade. During his time with the group, he performed on four full-length studio albums: Legions (2013), Penalty by Perception (2016), The Face of Fear (2018), and X (2021). Beyond his primary role as a drummer, he also contributed percussion and backing vocals to several of these recordings. His discography with the band includes various singles and live recordings, such as the 2024 posthumous release Raw Live (At Copenhell). Outside of Artillery, Madsen was also involved with projects such as Dennis Develin, Club Hell, and the progressive death metal band Consumned. Josua Madsen passed away at the age of 45 on March 8, 2023, after being struck by a bus while walking home from a rehearsal.
