After KISS, guitarist Vinnie Vincent pushed the boundaries of shred, crafting an album fusing American heavy metal hooks with hyper-guitar. With bassist Dana Strum and drummer Bobby Rock, along with Robert Fleischman’s soaring, multi-octave flamethrower singing, the record is the embodiment of guitar madness in 80s heavy metal. I'll give you just one example of how outrageous the guitar excess on this album is: at the end of the album there are some three minutes of a noisy guitar feedback alarm blaring big time! Nothing but chaotic guitar noise, squeals, and alarm effects blare on solo just for the pure fun of it because, well, it's Vinnie Vincent doing Vinnie Vincent things.

It is said that on the vinyl record (which I do not own), Vinnie Vincent took the absurdity one step further: The screeching feedback was pressed into a locked groove at the end of Side B, meaning the alarm effect literally played indefinitely until you physically got up and lifted the needle off the record. I wonder if this is true. Can I get a witness?!

Wikipedia reports that the record earned widespread critical acclaim, securing the 8th spot on Kerrang!’s top hard rock albums of 1986 before later earning a place at #100 on their 100 Greatest Heavy Metal Albums of All Time. Rock journalist Chuck Klosterman lauded the release naming it the second-greatest heavy metal album of the 1980s—behind only Guns N' Roses' Appetite for Destruction. Additionally, Rolling Stone ranked it 39th on their 2015 list of the 50 Greatest Hair Metal Albums of All Time.
