August 2006: Obscura - Retribution - Vots Records

Obscura kicked off their career with a raw, brutal, and razor-sharp debut: Retribution. Retribution is straight-to-the-point, aggressive, and riffs-first. Fast, punchy thrashy riffs with smooth, melodic guitar solos; harsh, throaty death metal rasps and deep growls; aggressive blast beats and rapid double-bass drumming often at breakneck speed. The original 2006 version shown on The Metal Archives is 11 songs with a Death cover ("Lack of Comprehension"), while the later 2010 version has four additional songs, for a total of 15 songs: four more covers, namely, "Synthetically Revived" (Suffocation cover), "God of Emptiness" (Morbid Angel cover), "Decade ov Therion" (Behemoth cover), and "Wings" (Vader cover). This is such good beginning for the band! I like this album.
