I like this oldie but goodie! Released July 18, 1996 on Holy Records, El Norra Alila is the groundbreaking second studio album by Middle Eastern metal visionaries Orphaned Land. While undoubtedly their 1994 debut Sahara set them on their pioneering course, this album finds them clearly elevating their definitive aesthetic, which is to make metal that makes Middle Eastern music an integral part of their sound. Having said that, this band is always making changes to their sound in various ways, from their early death-doom sound, like on this particular classic, to their later, more progressive, less extreme metal sound, but through it all the music is creative, interesting, and it simply sounds like another, different chapter in the sounds of Orphaned Land.
