celebrating the (belated) anniversary of DOKKEN's Lightning Strikes Again
I like the sound of this album. It's such a fun album! According to The Metal Archives, April 11 is the release date for the tenth full-length from long-running American heavy metal band DOKKEN.
In this particular case, this album features uptempo melodic rockers—the trademark sound of the band—with those very pleasant vocal lines. The rhythm section sounds great, keeping the songs together very well; both the bass and drums are a treat to listen to in the context of the songs. The guitar work is awesome, featuring hard-rock riffs, tons of melodies, and shredding. The songs go from headbanging rockers with driving drums to anthems, with a little bit of variety found in the mellower moments.
A reviewer over at The Metal Archives says about this album: "There’s no attempt at pandering to the mainstream here, no begging for a bigger fan base, just good old fashioned guitar oriented metal with zero apologies." I agree with such a sentiment. It's an accurate assessment.
