Apolaustic
No Plenitude Without Suffering
Transcending Obscurity Records

Romain Negro (ex-Stortregn) - vocals, songwriting; Merlin Bogado (Dyssebeia) - session guitars, bass; Nicolas Muller (Akiavel) - session drums.
I have been very impressed with this melodic black metal, and I wondered why it sounds so good. On The Metal Archives, it shows that this is APOLAUSTIC's debut album, and The Metal Archives lists nothing else for this entity. So, what explains the quality? Well, the creative force's name is Romain Negro, and he was with the long-running Swiss technical extreme metal band STORTREGN in the following capacities, according to The Metal Archives: guitar from 2006 until 2016, and vocals from 2006 until 2025. He is no longer with STORTREGN, and APOLAUSTIC is his new venture. However, he is listed as having done six albums and one EP, along with other releases like a demo, a single, and a split recording. According to this information, that’s almost two decades of experience. That explains the high quality of the album. From the vocals to the riffs, the melodies, the solos, and the songwriting in general, it's all done very well, and Romain recruited a couple of friends to round out the music. A very pleasant surprise in black metal.
