One On One With Straight Line Connection Band

Our goal is to bring the Rock/Metal scene to the forefront in Kenya and Africa in general. Straight Line Connection is a 3 piece Rock/Metal band with a big effin sound, hailing from the hills of Nairobi, est. 2017. Front man Gun hadn't picked up a guitar for over a decade until a close friend, Zo, persuaded him to do so in 2015.

There was no turning back after that. After Gun's dad passed away in September 2016, creating music helped him tremendously to deal with the loss. The songs came pouring out. In August 2017, Gun met up with Param, the calm drummer with an amazing unorthodox style. Param is also a great guitarist. They started jamming on covers of ‘lighter’ songs like Time by Pink Floyd but by the second jam session that was no longer the case as they focused on original material.

Later, in the beginning of 2018 Gun and Param met up with Reuben, the cool headed, suave bassist who added a touch of funk to the music. Straight Line Connection was complete and ready to roll.

In November 2017, Straight Line Connection (SLC), still in its infancy, was invited to open for the Nairobi Metal Festival. This was a big break, thanks to Rico the organiser. SLC had the pleasure of sharing the stage with local and international bands, amogst them In Other Climes from France and Slander from Italy.
