The Seeds of Datura

Check out the 2020 recording by The Seeds of Datura (Kenya). It is called Alkaloids Live (in progress). Below is some information about the recording that the band posted on Bandcamp, where they have two songs streaming from the album. Of course, on Bandcamp they other recordings/music, for a total of seven titles (singles/EPs). Below you will find some more of their music, including another EP that they have on Bandcamp, and an interesting documentary about the band. In the U.S. people would describe their music as a form of progressive metal and/or post-metal, or something along those lines, due to the exploratory style of the music, with light/heavy textures.
**GOOD NEWS** the hard disk has been restored as of April 2020 and we are gradually mixing some of the complete tracks and soon we will start recording the missing parts.
There were few chances to record multi-track sessions in 2016 and 2017 so in 2018 the Seeds took full advantage of the Temple studio in Ndenderu working with Mwax as the recording engineer with Wilson's production. UNFORTUNATELY the computer hard drive FAILED in October 2018. Most of the the track's instrumentals were recorded but vocals had yet to be recorded. NO BACKUP was made. We would like to restore the hard disk and the sessions but this will cost between $300 and $700 if successful.
Obsydian Media is releasing the Album as a presale in order that we may raise enough money to restore the disk and complete the session.
Alkaloids refers to the psychotropic compounds found in many plants. Neither Obsydian Media, Nor the Seeds of Datura recommend the use or experimentation of any psychotropic substance and this is not what the band nor the album promotes. The album is an exploration of the prehistoric symbiotic relationships between these many plants and fungi and the human species. How is it that our natural awareness and development of our cultures have proliferated with use of these compounds? It is not a live album either. Live refers to the plants themselves. A source of consciousness that we can tap into.
