BLACKMARKET DEMOCRACY two official videos
Blackmarket Democracy is a band from Chicago, U.S. and they've been doing their brand of groovy heavy rock metal for some ten years, probably longer than that. This publication does not have a whole lot of information about the band, actually, but check these two official music videos below and you will get a sense for the grit of their contemporary American heavy rock sound.
Biography: They draw inspiration from early metal and rock groups such as Bad Brains, King’s X, Pantera and Black Label Society, as well as post metal groups such as Alice in Chains, Tool and Soundgarden. In 2009, the band released its debut EP "Welcome to the Republic" containing their self titled track “blackmarket democracy/ballad of the songbird” which captures the bands sentiments in lyrics like "can you trust your government with their tanks outside your door?"
Songs that come from different ends of the spectrum., “Buckshot” deals with the ever increasing bureaucracy and growth of government that would have the working man’s voice muted. While on the other hand “Fragile” rallies an inward cry of self-examination, and makes note of how fragile we as individuals and as a people have become. “like blades of grass we have all become fragile!”
BMD is currently on tour playing venues in the Midwest and East Coast area with local and national acts.
they will finish out this year back in their home town of Chicago, where they will begin shooting the video to “buckshot Republic” and begin writing material for “the order of the new age” blackmarket democracy’s first full length album due for release Spring 2015.
