astronomy black metal anniversary: Mesarthim's album Arrival
MESARTHIM is an anonymous duo from Australia, formed in 2015, with themes of astronomy, physics, and outer space. On The Metal Archives, the two members are listed simply as "." and ".". Their sound is a mix of atmospheric black metal and electronic music, featuring extreme vocals and soaring synth melodies. According to reports, they performed live for the first time in September 2024 at the Cosmic Void Festival in London, wearing futuristic clothing and LED masks. They frequently use NASA telescope imagery and star charts for their aesthetic.
Arrival is the sixth full-length album: atmospheric black metal with electronic trance music, with heavy guitar riffs, fast tremolo picking, and electronic dance beats. The final track, "Type IV," is a 17-minute cosmic black metal song. The vocals consist of high-pitched black metal shrieks that sound isolated. These vocals are backed by loud guitars and bright synthesizers with the objective of an outer space feeling.
