the power metal machine rolls on: Helloween - My God-Given Right

The Metal Archives shows May 27, 2015 as the the release date in Japan: Helloween - My God-Given Right. Personally, I enjoy this album, and it looks like the vast majority of reviews on The Metal Archives have a rather positive perspective on the album, without many complaints: "This is an album that just keeps on giving. It is a bit overlong, but once you are into it it keeps giving wonderful surprises. It is a calm before the grandiose and over the top nature of the album that follows. Just pure unadulterated melodic power metal mastery." Another opinion says: "[W]e're faced with a group that hasn't really had much of a misstep since the earlier 90s, and they just keep laying it on with quality effort after effort...it's almost the point that its become exhausting. Even where I don't fully connect to a track enough that its going to possess that timeless quality in my collection, there is no possibility I could sit there and listen through this one without thoroughly enjoying it. Approved!" Another example: "A new Helloween album usually brings with it a surge of nostalgia and expectation, coupling together the band’s position as one of the founders of European power and speed metal back in the ‘80s and their role as consistent producer of said Euro power metal ever since. Having been on a very solid streak since 2007’s Gambling with the Devil, you could anticipate the quality of My God-Given Right almost exactly, knowing that you are likely to hear exuberant, fun, and catchy metal from the moment you press play. And kudos to Helloween, because that’s exactly what you get and - although recognizable - there’s still room for some surprises."
