GLASYA - From Enemy to Hero (official video) - melodic neosymphonic sound from Portugal

"From Enemy to Hero" is the first song from the second album called Attarghan by the Portuguese melodic neosymphonic band Glasya (2017-present). The band likes the use of spoken movie samples throughout the album as a way to make the point that they see their music as something that would go well with movies about ancient heroes, battles and empires. It should be mentioned again that the album contains spoken samples and the listener will need to decide whether they like that aspect or not. For instance, if one prefers to hear song after song, with nobody speaking words in the style of introductions, then this album is not exactly that way. On the other hand, if one likes the idea of little introductions or explanations, then the album could be interesting. The video below has both a man and a woman singing; however, the band is not a male/female singing band. On this particular song they have Marco Pastorino from the Italian melodic band Temperance (2013-present; first four albums on Scarlet Records; their two most recent albums on Napalm Records). Additionally, here and there Glasya uses some other vocals for variety, such as on the song "Within the Sandstorm" where there is a bit of growling by a male voice. Anyway, Glasya is definitely a melodic neosymphonic band, but the album has a few things, like the ones mentioned above, to give them their personality. The second album sounds like a fully professional recording for this genre, and should be interesting to the supporters of the melodic neosymphonic sounds. Glasya will be a name to keep out an eye for as they make more albums. For now, the new album should be impressing people.
