Rosth - black metal from Germany

The black metal band Rosth (Germany) is G.D. on guitars and vocals, and J.Z. on drums, with guest B.F. on bass. The album was mixed and mastered in 2021, but apparently it was recorded more than a decade ago in 2009. This does not seem to be a full band now, but perhaps they used to be. Anyway, the album immediately shows a higher level of sound quality than DIY black metal. It is eight songs in 34 minutes. The vocals are a deeper type of black metal growling, and not so much the shrieked type. The guitar work is traditional black metal of uptempo and fast riffing while retaining the melodies. The overall strength of the songwriting, performances and quality of sound make the album worthy of investigating and of giving it a real chance to see if the listener can hear skill involved. It does not sound like a DIY recording or demo or anything like that, and that is obvious from the first seconds when the music begins. The instrumentation is also clear, and the bass guitar is very audible and it’s easy to follow what it is doing, while the drum sound is also rather upfront. A surprising album!
