Novelty for the sake novelty often catches the attention of some people, but then the novelty wears off and people want to know if a band has the skills to write good songs and to last a decade, two decades, three decades, or more. Night had its debut album in 2013 and this is their fourth album. They have been active since 2011, says Metal Archives. Whatever novelty they may have had for some people, it has to be over now at this point, right? We want the music, not the hype, not the gimmicks. Here at our own Rockin’ Bob’s Blog our four readers appreciate learning about new music, but the kicker with this Swedish bunch is that even their new music sounds like old music because they play 1970s heavy metal. In this case, we’re talking about uptempo, melodic, rocking heavy metal, like a fun mix of lots of Thin Lizzy and Blue Öyster Cult, and other bands that play uptempo-style rock (not the über bluesy, gloomy nor psychedelic trippy nor prog rock). It’s high-energy rock. Night is a proud celebration of the glory of 1970s heavy rock. These songs are catchy, and the melodies are big, including the dueling guitars. If you would like an invitation to rocking music of the 1970s—the heavy rock, hard rock and classic rock with memorable songs of that decade—then this band has the ticket for you. Let’s hope the next 40 of Night keep the good music going. Night in the year 2060? Why not?!
