WoR is a High Energy, Groove Metal quintet from Raleigh, NC. WoR was founded in Raleigh, NC in the spring of 2018 by guitarist Ben Kaiser and drummer Jeremy Seward. Guitarist James McMillian joined the band on bass and later switched to playing guitar. In early 2019, the band welcomed Bobby Demoss (vocals), whose unique screaming style and passionate, anti-authoritarian lyrics helped form WoR's groundbreaking identity. In March of 2019, Phil Funderburk joined the band on bass and Hunter Crews solidified the lineup as the band's drummer. By Summer of 2019, WoR had begun to debut their music at live shows throughout the SouthEast, opening for the likes of Upon a Burning Body and WarBringer.
WoR's live shows can be described as highly energetic, blending groovy riffs, harmonic leads, infectious breakdowns, and the anti-authoritarian lyrics of Bobby Demoss. WoR takes influence from a variety of different sub-genres of metal including thrash metal, groove metal, death metal, and sludge metal. In addition, genres such as hardcore, metalcore, punk , and hip hop also have great influence over the members of the band. Their debut album, “Prisoners” will be released in 2020 through Universal Music Group, featuring the singles “Caged” and “Predator”.
