review: Satanica
Satanica
Resurrection of Devil's Spirit
Iron Shield Records
July 24th, 2020
It looks like from 2004 to 2011 the Japanese band was a lot more active with recordings. Then there was studio silence. No more, they are back, and one big difference now is that the old screamer is gone, but they did not have to look far and wide to find a new screamer because they just turned to the drummer and said, “My good sir, we have heard you scream, and we rather enjoy it. Would you kindly take over the microphone heavy duties and be our next vocalist?” His answer was, “My good sirs, indeed I would.” Problem solved! Anyway, what is this band all about? Their mission in the universe is to destroy all the enemies of heavy metal music and to rule all the worlds with the power of bright shining electric guitars and booming rocking drums and make all creatures bang their heads! Their sound is rough-and-tumble yet melodic cult heavy metal for rocking out. It is fun, party metal of good times to make fans feel good with direct songs that you can understand quickly and make you want to press the repeat button. Here in the United States we have not heard a whole lot about these rockers and they do have three albums before this one, but this new album is a good place to begin with their music. It’s been ten years since the previous album so we might as well begin in 2020 and work our way back later. This new one has plenty of cult heavy metal for our starting point.
