Negative Thought Process
Hell Is... Much Better Than This
Hibernacula Records

NTP is not so much a group of musicians as it is a gang of brutes assaulting guitar, bass, drums and microphone. I feel sorry for the instruments. Taking such a vicious beating and nobody is there to help them escape from these angry British punks hell bent on making a most disturbing racket. Six tracks (notice that I did not write “songs”): five that last a bit over a minute each, and the epic closer that goes for two minutes and 39 seconds. They have a track called “I Am Scum”* that is as peaceful as a tornado in your living room. There is music, and then there is NTP, trying to destroy it. If NTP were an animal at the zoo, it would be that monkey smearing its own stuff all over the glass wall, pointing to it and jumping around whenever the humans pass by, but don’t realize that the monkey is not insane but rather is telling the humans that the living conditions for monkeys at the zoo are horrible and that all the monkeys want their freedom. The monkey smearing its own stuff on the glass wall? That’s NTP making this terrible grind racket and pleading the universe to help them.
Open the door to the zoo and let these Brits cheeky monkeys loose, and in return you will experience grind with a crusty, heavy vibe, like some sort of doom stoner band speeding up big time to the speeds of grind, if that makes sense, as if the band likes grind, but they wanted a heavier sound (normal grind is too light for them) rounded out with savage grunt, growling and yelling. NTP, says Metal Archives, has not done an album since 2016, and these eight minutes and 42 seconds of crusty grind is their return. So, then, they must be working on an album, right?! Right?!!!!
*Approach NTP if you like bands that have criminal records, consume and sell all sorts of illegal substances and merchandise, from funny powders to strange liquids to bat meat. Even the coronavirus is afraid of these dudes, ok? Just saying.
