Biography: Daniel Jackson creates black metal out of Albuquerque, NM under the name Void Ritual. In the summer of 2014, Void Ritual released its debut EP, Holodomor (now sold out) through Tridroid Records. The goal was simple: craft powerful, memorable black metal with a reverence for the genres’s second wave. The reaction was very positive, with Holodomor getting positive coverage from Metalsucks, Cvlt Nation, and Invisible Oranges, along with Metal Injection listing Void Ritual as one of “10 Underground Bands You NEED To Hear” and including Holodomor in their best of the year list (EP Section).
Next, Void Ritual contributed three songs to a split with Scotland’s Barshasketh, released in February of 2015 through Broken Limbs Recordings, which again was met with strongly positive reviews, being featured via stream premiere and subsequent review at Metal Injection and earning positive reviews from numerous outlets, along with interviews at Cvlt Nation and Nine Circles.
In 2017, Void Ritual returns with Heretical Wisdom; its first full length album. While the production may be clearer and heavier, the songs retain all of Void Ritual’s prior ferocity. Heretical Wisdom is meant to provide a spirited experience: an ice-cold melodic black metal album with instantly memorable riffs, raging speed, and commanding vocals.
Heretical Wisdom will be available in August via Throats Productions on CD, and Tridroid Records on Cassette.
