Furnace: another Rogga Johansson death metal project

Furnace features Rogga Johansson, a Swedish cult figure in many death projects, mostly old-school headbanging stuff. A simple search on Metal Archives shows that on any given year Rogga may release anywhere from three to seven or more albums. It is a very large discography, as if Rogga is determined to make a living from the sales of death metal recordings that come out under the names of dozens of projects at a relentless pace. So far he seems to have some 125 (you read that right!) recordings to his name and he is about 44 years of age. It is conceivable that he once set for himself the modest goal of 100 albums, but that now his secret goal is actually 1000 albums. Furnace has Rogga on guitars and vocals. It is death with, by Rogga standards, a relatively high amount of melody added to the brutal, gruff heaviness, but don’t get it confused: this is not “melodic death” nor “melodeath.” It is death metal with a bit of a more somber feel, some softer guitars added to the usual Rogga chugging. The album is still mainly for death metal fans, given that the growling is standard death (perhaps a bit too monotonous in that "safe" and "proper" burping growl that is common in death metal) and the guitar work is chugging heaviness with simplicity for quick impact. See the official propaganda below. [--Metal Bulletin Zine]
Furnace Dark Vistas Soulseller Records 9 October 2020 Swedish Death Metal trio FURNACE will release concept album Dark Vistas October 9 on Soulseller Records. Dark Vistas is conceptual death metal in a melodic, thrashing and gothic setting. What if Paradise Lost, Deceased and any Swedish death metal band of choice came together for a full-on storytelling album? Well then you´d have FURNACE´s Dark Vistas. Comprised of members from Paganizer, Demiurg and Assassins Blade, as well as Cult of the Fox and Void Moon, this Swedish outfit explores a new melodic death metal vista of sorts. It’s still death metal, but it’s also much more. Delve deep into the Lovecraftian and cult-riddled mythos of FURNACE with Dark Vistas.
