Ceremonial Castings (Washington state, U.S.A.)
The Washington state black metal band Ceremonial Castings (1996-2014, says Metal Archives) did an extensive discography of nine albums, three EPs, five demos and other works. Here is the last album from 2014 called Cthulhu. The album was received well, and exceedingly well by some reviewers. The album has a perfect score of 100 by two reviewers at Metal Archives. The first one said, in part: "There is so much more I want to say, but I'm probably going to just keep this review as short and simple as I possibly can. Summarizing 2 hours of quality music isn't that easy to do like this, especially being someone who is very familiar with and appreciates Lovecraft's work and can see the amount of love these guys have for it as well. All in all, I say to go into this album with an open mind. Probably won't be your favorite thing in the world the first time around, but keep listening closely to the instrumentation. Allow it to grow on you. It is the ultimate album for any H.P. Lovecraft fan and one of the better death/black metal albums you can get your hands on in general. I totally recommend it to any true metalhead. But hey, this isn't for everyone. If it isn't your cup of tea, that's totally fine by me. If you don't end up liking that ambient track on the other hand, something must be severely wrong with you. Listen to it while reading any of Lovecraft's stories. I dare you." The second reviewer also felt the same way and declared: "Cthulhu is the greatest work of Ceremonial Castings and it will hopefully be remembered as a wonderful contribution to black metal. Not only is the music true art itself, the lyrics are excellent literature in their own right. I highly recommend this album to any who enjoys black metal or finds the subject matter appealing. This is one of the best albums I have ever heard. Words alone do not do this album justice, so all readers should go forth and listen to it until they truly understand."
