Ashgabat - black metal from Oregon, U.S.A.

Ashgabat: Perverse Summoning July 31st, 2021

This Eugene, Oregon, U.S. black metal entity is Eth (bass, songwriting) and Ohlde (guitars, drums, vocals, lyrics). They are or have been associated with other acts like Occult Blood, Iced, Vomit Violence, Gash, Lodge of the Empty Bed, Darkosis, and a bunch of other names. The recording is three songs (17 minutes) of classic-style grim black metal for headbanging. The sound quality is pretty good, and the drum (programming?)* sound and guitar dominate, although the bass guitar is pretty audible, too. One can hear what the guitar is playing (fast, tremolo, and some midtempo). There is a bit of melody, but this is not melodic black metal, just prototypical grim black metal. The vocals are pure black metal, and nothing else. There is very little fat on this recording. Good work! *(FYI, Ohlde is a real drummer, and this drumming sounds skilled, not just like programmed stuff).
