High Spirits returns with new album "Hard to Stop" celebrating the sound of late 1970s heavy metal

High Spirits is basically "high-energy classic rock" ("high-energy rock" was a name for heavy metal before it became a really self-aware genre) in the style of the late 1970s. High Spirits combines Thin Lizzy with Motörhead, something like Thin Lizzy playing Motörhead songs, and a good dose of the simplicity of the Ramones thrown in there for good measure. All the songs are basically rockers, and sometimes the Thin Lizzy comes out more, sometimes the Motörhead-Ramones vibes may be more audible. In general, however, it is more a Thin Lizzy-Motörhead alliance in place. On the other hand, sometimes the Ramones feel does come out in full force, like on the song "Now I Know," and this one does sound like Thin Lizzy covering the Ramones.
High Spirits apparently is a live band, but on the recordings it is a one-person endeavor by Professor Black.
ABOUT: HIGH SPIRITS returns with a brand new album - its fourth - or fifth, if you count the 2009 self-titled demos LP that started it all. The band began to tour around the USA in 2010, and then "Another Night" was the official studio debut in 2011. The album was a big smash, and so HIGH SPIRITS made the first European tours in 2012 and 2013. The next album "You Are Here" was released in 2014, followed by tours all over the USA and Europe. The autobiographical album "Motivator" came in 2016, and since then the band rocked over fifty more gigs and remained popular on the heavy metal festivals and smaller venues as well. HIGH SPIRITS played a 10th anniversary show in Chicago in August 2019, and then it was time to make the next album, and that’s a heavy one! Recorded like always by Chris Black in Chicago but then mixed to full power by Dan Swanö at the famous Unisound Studio. This new batch of nine unforgettable songs shows why HIGH SPIRITS is still the first name in 100% high-energy rock! The time is right, you know. And the bond between HIGH SPIRITS and audience is unbreakable. Just like the album cover, it's a blazing beam of light through the dark… Now listen, because "Hard To Stop" is about to echo across the world!
