Their first album in 2014 was called Speed Metal Hell, and ever since then the message has remained the same, even though some members have come and gone, and this new album features a different screamer. The Norwegians remain steadfast in their zeal for a very specific sect: a wild, chaotic, unpolished form of cult thrash. In other words, a more savage form of thrash that is the rude, obnoxious, drunk, loud cousin of Metallica and Slayer (and all those similar American bands), the type of cousin that Testament would be too embarrassed to invite to your dinner party because the Testament boys are afraid that these thrash zombies would trash your beautiful abode.

A civilized gentleman like Kirk Hammett would tell them, “I like you, cousin. I do, but I’m just afraid you can’t control your temper and alcohol. Anders, didn’t you name one of your recordings “Happy Holocaust” or something? Anders! People don’t like you if you go around telling them to die in a holocaust! Last year at auntie Helen’s Christmas party you replaced her poodle’s water with vodka and the dog had to be hospitalized because of your shenanigans. Maybe it’s better that you stay home this time and don’t go out for dinner with us tonight. Here, take this pill, here’s a nice big bowl of popcorn and let me put on the alligator hunting show that you love so much. Maybe after you finish your anger management classes at the Sandnes Rehabilitation Center we could think about bringing you in public. For now, I think it would be best if you stay home, ok, buddy? Anders, by the way, please stop posting on Twitter that you want people to do die in a holocaust. You’re making your fellow townspeople nervous with your constant posts about people dying in a holocaust.”

Anyway, fans who live for the dirty, ghoulish thrash, whether it is from the present day or from the early 1980s, it all amounts to the same thing.
