out now: Rhine -- maverick metal getting refined

Rhine has been creating a reputation here in the state of Washington for years now. On the third album, there is an interesting new thing going on with their contemporary extreme prog sound. The music seems easier to understand and just generally friendly (friendlier!) to the ear. It's good to hear the music take a turn for the better in terms of being intelligible to those of us who are not musicians. This album is still very much extreme progressive metal with extreme vocals (with some melodic vocals, too) and some challenging parts, but listeners won't feel super overwhelmed with the musical twists and turns. There is a smoother flow and more melodic feel to it. That's good news for you and me, right?!
