All Life Dies is Oceans of Slumber guitarist Jessie Santos on vocals/guitars, David Sanchez, Jr. on drums, and Oceans of Slumber bandmate Semir Ozerkan on bass and backing vocals, and Joseph Martin on guitars/backing vocals. Jessie Santos is the head of this entity, and from 2009 to 2020 it was called Fall, with a demo, two EPs and an album to its credit. Santos is saying that this three-song recording is just the beginning of All Life Dies, reflecting the change in name. Oceans of Slumber is, of course, regarded highly by its fans and their affection for the band's doom with prog influences and melodic singing. All Life Dies here seems different, like a mix of death/black, perhaps like an interpretation of melodic death/black, including the blasting. Observe, however, that there is one important element that readers should note: the influence of Opeth. All Life Dies is melodic extremity, with an indispensable component of melodic singing that is Opethian in style, tone and feel. It means that it is melancholic, soft, folky, even slightly psychedelic, and with the music to accompany that side. Does All Life Dies cite Opeth as a big influence? I don't know, but that's what I, as a listener, am saying. Essentially, I read it as a love letter to Opeth, as a way of saying thank you. Thus, there is a blasting extremity going on, and it is very pronounced, and then there is the mellow side, and that is also very pronounced. Listeners that enjoy duality may get a kick out of this Texas-based entity's solid beginning.
