Fer de Lance - epic warrior metal from the ancient faraway lands

I made a mistake with this album. I never got around to telling you about it, friend. I really should have told you. I don't know too much about the history of this band, but this album should be interesting to fans of epic midtempo heavy metal. Every song sounds like an anthem to get the heavy metal fan to join in. This is not fast heavy metal. It is tons of midtempo, easy-to-get-into tunes that are meant for people to raise their fist in the air and nod in massive agreement to these songs, tunes that sound like they could work for the Lord of the Rings battle scenes or any other medieval or ancient warrior-type of battle scenes. High-vocals singing, steady-beat drums and big, fat riffs, really, these songs would work out pretty well with a symphony behind them. However, this is not neosymphonic metal per se. It is epic heavy metal. What is epic heavy metal? Well, it is this, this right here.
If you have a sword handy, grab it and let's go. If you don't have a sword, then just come along and see. You can take the sword from the warriors that you can subdue with your bare hands. Sometimes, the only way to get a sword is by taking it from your enemy and strike them down with the same word. If you don't have a sword, then use a lance. This band will approve because their name apparently means "spearhead," in French. FYI: The lyrics are in English, not French, and the band is not from the lands of the Frankish tribes, but rather from the outpost named Chicägö, in the American province of the Illinois peoples. Saddle up your horse, and ride to the province, to the province of the Illinois peoples, even if you can only make the trip in your imagination through this album. There, in the fort of Chicago, you will be met with epic heavy metal with greetings and spears and swords in abundance.
