review: Tantivy -- what happens when thrash punk rock meets heavy metal at a biker bar in Wisconsin
Tantivy

Tantivy is a Wisconsin, USA duo that plays a rowdy, thrashy heavy metal with rough-throat vocals. The music is too tough and too thrashy to call it traditional heavy metal, and too rock and roll to call it thrash, but if you split the difference, you might come up with something like Tantivy, driven by the high energy drumming of Jon Zimick, while his amigo-compadre Adam Geurink takes care of the guitar, bass, and vocals. Geurink, who growls and plays guitar in the fuzzed uptempo heaviness of Wardehns, sounds a bit different here. The vocals are less growled, and easier to understand but still rough, channeling the style of punk metal vocals, and dare we say it, singing. Can you imag-ine thrashy heavy metal played with a punk rock attitude? It’s melodic, catchy, rock-ing, simple and non-computerized garage heavy metal made for the pure fun of it. Hello, Wisconsin!!
