review: Undergang -- good old-fashioned gore metal from Denmark

The internet says that the song titles in Danish mean things like "Spontaneous Bacterial Auto-Ignition," "Involuntary Donation of Vital Organs," "Indecent Handling of Corpses," and "Red Dead Meat." Undergang seems driven by a super stubborn, hard-headed, unyielding fanaticism for gurgle-gargle-burp incomprehensible sloppy-barbarian aes-thetics. In the 31 minutes of the fifth album, as well as during the course of ten years, the band has zealously stuck to its original promise to make a contemporary version, a rec-tification or a rebuilding, if you will, of the ideas found in 1980s gore-zombie-horror-movies-themed demos of early, young death, grind, splatter, goregrind punk garage metal. We submit that there is no significant difference in musical attitude between this band and the demos of Death, Impetigo, Autopsy, Carcass, Repulsion, Necrophagia and all that old stuff, except that Undergang is a bunch of grown old men with day jobs (possibly with kids) and not teenagers or young adults. Undergang is, in fact, gar-gle-jarbled, low growling-burping sicko gore metal in the language of Gibberish that literally nobody knows what the vocalist is saying, including the rest of the band. Imag-ine that you are brushing your teeth, you are washing out the toothpaste with some water, and you have the toothpaste and the water in your mouth, and now, imagine, that you try to say the phrase, "Peter Piper picked a peck of pickled peppers. A peck of pickled peppers Peter Piper picked. If Peter Piper picked a peck of pickled peppers. Where's the peck of pickled peppers Peter Piper picked?" Now then, how did that go for you?! Undergang is like that, except that it might be about zombies, horror movies, gore and things like that. The music is charming, easy to get into, fun for the fans that truly enjoy sloppy-cave brutality.
