out this weekend: Harlott: Detritus of the Final Age

The Australian band returns with another installment of classic-style thrash. Fans of the genre should be very pleased with the band's belief in mosh pit thrash as their sound. Lots of headbanging metal to be had here, lots of shredding and fast-finger string action, without forgetting to inject a bit of melody in places. In addition, the band explores some longer songs to extend their sound, and in some places they use the slow-burner midtempo segments as a contrast to all the thrashing going on. The listener will see that the band remains committed to the sound of legacy thrash, whether we are talking about the 1980s or today, and listeners will notice the effort by the band to avoid being complacent by spicing up the pace of the album. The band has worked on a balanced approach to thrash and it shows. Of course, the musicianship is top notch, and the production is good.
