Tendencia (Cuba) -- "Egofilia" from 2020 album "Añejo XXV"

ABOUT: Founded in 1994 in the western city of Pinar del Río, Cuba. The band got distinctive very soon because of the used of exotic elements of the backgrounds of the Afrocuban, Latin American and Cuban music together with their metal grooves. All this mixture has made being described by media as an Ethno Metal Cuban band (Metal Mestizo Cubano) full of energy and Cuban feelings all together. Recording Demos in 1995, 1996, 1997 and 1998 started to play all around the island in different Festivals and events that make them be very recognized in the cuban scene. In 2001 released their first album “Re Evolución” through the German label System Shock, a division of Impact Records. This opened the door of the Cuban television, the radio; and also the first video clip. All this with strength of their Cuban metal melted with rumba, the carnival conga and the folkloric percussion traditions that brought the Africans to Cuba during the slavery times of the colony. The album, distributed through SPV received very good reviews from European webs and magazines. In 2005, they released their second album “Rebeldes” through the most important Cuban label EGREM becoming a smash hit that made Tendencia obtain the most important awards in music business in the country that year: Cubadisco Award as the best metal album, D´Arte Award, Cubaneo Award and Cuerda Viva Award.

The album leads them to make their first official national Tour, and to keep on opening doors the band is invited to Festival Metropolitano de Caracas, Venezuela “Gilman Fest” ,their first international experience. They shared stage there with bands like Arcangel, and Paul Gilman. In 2007, Tendencia is invited to participate in Derrame Rock Festival and Rock n Motos Fest in Spain. They also play different shows all around the country sharing with important bands like Barón Rojo, Hamlet, Fe de Ratas, Avalanch, The Locos, Reincidentes, among other. The impact of their first short tour in Europe was shown at newspapers, magazines and TV shows in Spain. The band also records a split video and a song for a compilation CD that was very well received for the media and the audience. The band signs with Santo Grial Producciones for an album and tour, and the come back to Spain in 2008, and record their third album “Confidencial” at Bunker studios in Asturias, having Alberto Rionda (Avalanch) as the producer. This 2008, Tendencia plays at Festival Extremúsika, Derrame Rock Festival, Vila Rock Festy Villena Suena Festival Sharing stage with bands like Barón Rojo, Koma, Medina Azahara, Europe, Ra, Molotov, Moonspell, Mojinos Escozios, etc. The album “Confidencial” was reléase in Spain on February, 2009 and it is nominated as álbum of the Year in Cuba. It got very good reviews in the media in Spain and Cuba.

In 2009, Tendencia comes to Germany, invited at Trebur Open Air Fest and Diskmarcher Rock Festival where played with bands like Clawfinger and Dog Eat Dog, Dritte Wahl, etc. The impact in Cuba of their international successful tours were also accompanied by a series of nominations and Awards like Lucas Award (best Video), Cubadisco(best Album) and Cuerda Viva special Award(most popular Rock band). In 2010 They are invited to participate at Semana Negra Festival in Spain, and also play some concerts in Germany on Summer. In 2012 are nominated for the best video of Metal in Cuba, and make a cuban tour named “Ruta Metalera”. They finish the year in Ecuador where they play at Quitu Raimy Festival where they shared stage with different latin American bands. In 2013, Tendencia makes another cuban tour named “La Trampa” and got into the studio again for recording an Ep- La Trampa. In 2014 the band opens the year with an invitation to the German band COR to make “Cuba COR Libre” tour to celebrate the 20th Anniversary of Tendencia all around Cuba. From this tour there derived a documentary with the same name of the tour, and that was also shown at Rock Hard Magazine with an article the named Chaos in Cuba that same year. Because of the 20th Anniversary of the band, Tendencia made a lot of shows on the cuban media during the whole year.

In 2015, they were invited to Puerto Rico for a Festival “Islas del Metal” and also play at other cities of the USA like San Juan, Tampa and New York City. There was also a documentary named the Metal Islands made by producers from the University of Puerto Rico where Tendencia had a very special appearance. In 2016, Tendencia comes back to the international arena hitting stages in Colombia where they play at Kraken Festival in Bogotá, and at the 8th edition of Festival Unirock in Cali. This same year, they tour Mexico invited to Mandrágora Metal Fest in Ciudad Mexico and also play other gigs together with important Mexican bands. 2017 starts with a national tour named “Cargando Cruces” and also recording a new album which will have the same name. They got the special Award of Cuerda Viva TV program as the most popular Rock band of the country in the year showing that the still energetic trajectory of the band heads towards new horizons within the contemporary music. Tendencia also promotes a Festival In Pinar del Río named Festival Pinar Rock since 1996. Portraying an exotic sonority where the intensity of the most passionate Rock together with the happiness and contagious groove of the Caribbean, these cuban musicians show that they don´t believe in established slogans, they don´t believe on fatal walls, so they project themselves to the world as the reference for the cuban metal music.
