Zmey Gorynich will issue follow-up to Mother Russia
The Russian band Zmey Gorynich, whose music is self-described as "lubok-core," is about to have the new album Чёртовы пляски released on June 4th, 2020. The music, even if you don't speak Russian, is about a fun-loving type of contemporary metal that covers Russian folklore and topics like that. The new album follows up 2018's Mother Russia, which you can hear below.
Biography: Zmey Gorynich is an extremely nonstandard project from Moscow, which is a mix of perky dance folk metal with Russian traditional instruments, progressive touches and deathcore breakdowns.
Zmey Gorynich was formed in 2013 by the efforts of two crazy famous metal musicians - Demether aka Mityay (of Grailight) and Arsafes aka Kudeyar (of Kartikeya). As a musical direction, the creators have chosen, as written above, a mixture of Russian folk music and deathcore, calling it "lubok-core" or "skomorokh metal". Lyrics are devoted to folklore, fables, the share of sarcasm and the exaggeration of various stereotypes about Russian people, a la "ax, vodka and bear", exploiting the image of medieval buffoons.
In October 2013, the band released their first single "Морозобой/Frostfight", which was generally well received by listeners, the fervor and the presence of a wild sense of humor among musicians. The new material was not long in coming, and in March 2014, the single “Oh Leli-Leli” was released. Female vocal parts performed by Alexandra "Rys" Sidorova (of Academical choir "Silver Voice", Rarog). The next whole year the band spent a lull - either in the studio, or in hibernation. Anyway, on November 15, 2016, Zmey Gorynich presented EP "Malafya", which immediately blew up the Network and fully met the expectations of the fans. The material turned out to be quite large - 8 killer tracks, including a cover version of Bring Me The Horizon - "Can You Feel My Heart".
On March 18, 2017, the band's line-up completed by bassplayer Gvozd (of Kartikeya) and drummer Stalin (of Kartikeya) and played the first concert in St. Petersburg, on the 31st of the same month went to perform at the Les Woods club in Moscow and later at the summer folk festivals too sure.
6th July, 2018 year on Kupala-holiday, Zmey Gorynich released at last their first LP "Mother Russia" on label SoundAge Productions, filled to failure by 14 incredible treadmill masterpieces, including covers on E-Type "Princess of Russia" and russian-tongued Rammstein "Sonne". The album was nominated as the best album of the year in many russian zines and blogs, and winned the title of the best debut album of the year at folk-metal.nl
History and the conquer of the world continues...
Glory to Russia!
