review: Cemetery Filth
Cemetery Filth
Dominion
Unspeakable Axe Records / Boris Records
13 April 2020
Anyone within coughing distance of CF is going to be infected with this death metal. The cemetery is a wonderful place to hang out whether you’re stopping by to visit friends or whether you’re here on a more permanent basis. What better moment than now to spend some time or your afterlife at the cemetery banging your skull or shaking your bones to the blasting death metal of CF?! If you and your friends choose this name for your band, then you already know that it’s going to be a rotting good time.
The music can blast from here to the grave digger’s front door and feels brutal. Unlike other people, I guess, I don’t believe this album is just worship tribute to the old school. The album does not strike me as an attempt to sound like an old and defunct band in particular, as some people keep saying. It's not a melodic album and expect the intensity to be the driving force or the main attraction. The folks at Metal Archives say that CF formed in 2014 and they have an EP and a few split releases but not an album until now. This is a nice, solid debut, especially for the die-hard fanatics of the genre.
