Metal Archives says the following: about Jenner are a new speed/thrash metal quartet from Belgrade, Serbia. They are a rarity in the genre being from Serbia and being all-female which only makes them more awesome. To Live is to Suffer is their debut album released on Inferno Records and it kicks serious ass. From start to finish, this record will thrash your face off with killer riffs, very solid drumming, plenty of cool bass lines, and very old school vocals.

The album kicks off with a neat bass line that goes right into the furious riffing that exemplifies this album. These ladies know exactly what they want to do and waste no time in executing their plan of attack. Aleksandra’s riffs are the biggest standout on the album as she rips through these songs with impressive speed and precision, even including great solos every so often. It continues in this fashion for the whole 37 minutes that make up this album, varying the speeds slightly within each song, keeping the listener wanting more.

Pacing wise, these songs are fast and heavy. They thrash with the best of them but retain that slight amount of groove to thicken the guitar tone. This pacing is great because it allows for moments like Mina’s opening bass line on “Factory of Death,” Marija’s creative drum fills that open “On the Judgement Day” and Aleksandra’s fantastic guitar leads on the song. Drumming in thrash tends not to be extremely creative and for the most part, Marija’s work on here fits that norm. However, like the rest of Jenner, she is a very solid performer and she manages to carve out moments of creativity such as the jackhammer opening of the album’s closer “Opened (On the Table).” This is the fastest song on the album and also features some of Aleksandra's best riffs (especially backing the aforementioned jackhammer drumming in the opening). There are also a few brief moments of great cymbal work which could be something to watch for on the sophomore album.

Andelina’s vocals are pretty awesome and they definitely have an old school vibe to them. She goes for that middle high range that falls somewhere between David White (Heathen) and Paul Baloff. There are a few occasions where it feels like she is forcing a high note that is not there but when she pulls it off as in “Opened (On the Table),” it works quite well. Her vocals fit Jenner’s sound very well and despite not showing a lot of range, they really add to the overall sound.

The production on To Live is to Suffer is mostly excellent but the more polished sound does take a bit of the raw edge from the demo away. The difference is noticeable but ultimately marginal since overall, the production here is louder, heavier and most importantly, clearer. This album sets to create a barrage of thrash tunes that are fast and heavy and just plain awesome. While there is certainly room for improvement, this album accomplishes that goal with stunning ease and is a fantastic start for a very talented and awesome band.
