Ad Patres

Ad Patres
A Brief Introduction to Human Experiments
XENOKORP
Release: 8 February 2019
This French team is laser focused on tech-death brutality to the max. The drummer probably needed to be hospitalized after he recorded the album, and the vocalist had to go see the throat specialist. The guitarists’ carpal tunnel has worsened considerably after the album, but that’s how it goes when you play as fast as possible and add technicality on top of the speed.
The band has been heading in this direction for years now. Unfortunately, it has been some five years since the hyperblasting superintensity of the previous album Scorn Aesthetics, but the more that things change the more they stay the same, and there is one thing that has not changed. They are still obsessed and consumed by the necessity to take extreme fast, brutal metal to eleven. The songs are as demented as before, but there's a feeling that these songs are more memorable. Of course, it does take a couple of listens to adapt to the hyperspeed, but once you do, it's off to the races, boom, bang, bang and blast.
There is nothing nice here. No so-called catchy melodies nor sugary stuff. It is all ugly all the time up in here. Whatever is the latest technology in recording death metal, and whatever is available to the band, that’s what they use. No apologies, no excuses for putting out a product that is as fast as possible and as brutal as possible. The devoted fans of both tech-death and of fast, blasting death metal have here an album for putting the body into motion in the mosh pit. Let's get physical, you'll want to get physical, Ad Patres can bring out the animal. Fun stuff, for sure.
