Weeping Silence plays a blend of male and female fronted gothic-doom metal.

Weeping Silence was formed in 1998 as an atmospheric doom metal act, producing an EP and a demo, which the band followed up with the first full-length album ‘End of an Era’ released by Sleaszy Rider Recs. It was well received across the world as a unique in-memoriam album.

In the period 2006-2008 Weeping Silence recorded the second album ‘Theater of Life’, with a re-direction in style, having a faster pace and the introduction of a choir accompanied with grandeur orchestrations. The album, regarded more as a gothic record, was released via Ravenheart Music Recs in 2011. The track ‘Dark Waters’ off this album was voted first in the EKR A-List People’s Choice Poll in July 2011.

Weeping Silence entered the studio again in 2011 to record ‘For the Unsung’. This third album, released in deluxe digipack edition in 2012, features male backing vocals. It is more aggressive and with a clear gothic-doom metal orientation. Anders Jacobsson of internationally-renown act Draconian features as guest vocalist. The album was produced at Tower Studios (France). The feedback was very positive.

Towards the end of 2012 Weeping Silence made a change in the vocal line-up. The band and Rachel and Joe Grech parted ways after a long and productive collaboration. Diane and Dario joined ranks and the line-up was once again complete.

In 2013 Weeping Silence was nominated for the ‘Best Heavy Metal Band’ award in the national Malta Music Awards (MMAs), and also won the ‘Best Band of the Year 2012’ in the Female Metal Webzine awards.

Over the years Weeping Silence appeared on-stage at several festivals and concerts. In 2010 the band played a UK tour with To-Mera amongst others, and 2013 at the Malta Doom Metal Festival and a tour in Benelux also playing the Respect for Metal show alongside Therion. In 2014 the band played several concerts and festivals including MetalDays Festival in Slovenia. 2015 includes Metal over Malta Festival with Draconian, Helevorn and more, and The Dames of Darkness Festival (UK) with Sirenia and Leaves’ Eyes among others. Bookings for 2016 already include Gothoom Festival (Slovakia) and others are in the process of being confirmed. Live bookings are managed by Hydra Management & Booking Agency and Limelight Productions booking agencies.

Weeping Silence is currently recording the fourth album, and has signed a new record deal, this time with Germany’s Massacre Records, and we could not be more pleased with placing our new album in the hands of the experienced people behind this label. The band is extremely pleased with the composition, which is emphatically more doom-laden than ever before yet with a melodic-gothic vein!

Weeping Silence also organises and hosts the Metal over Malta Festival. (BIO).
